In Chaos IX trials played solo, its health can exceed 1 billion. On top of percent-based damage reduction, it can heal itself. If no one is currently alive on the map, it will idle until a tangible player reappears. It now only attacks living heroes directly, occasionally growling whenever it does so. Appearance-wise, both of its wings follow a solid orange-yellow gradient. The Embermount Update in February 2022 brought back the Phoenix with similar AI to its DDE incarnation, as well as the boss's native map. The mythical bird can land on its feet to shoot homing lava balls at an upward angle or engulf players in its fiery breath. While flying, a bright orange trail follows behind it. Harmless small flames constantly burn off of its wings. The Phoenix originally debuted in DD2, alongside Embermount Volcano. If this happens, the current wave will not end until the fully-developed Phoenix is defeated. Otherwise, it will evolve into its "true form," up to the same strength as its Campaign equivalent. It must be defeated within a countdown timer. In the "Flames of Rebirth" challenge, a weaker version of the Phoenix spawns during combat. Offensive heroes should not stand next to fragile defenses, such as Lightning and Deadly Striker Towers, in order to direct fireballs away from them. It summons 'Phoenix Flame' wyverns for assistance which cannot be killed directly.Contact with the Phoenix during this attack deals a very high amount of damage. It accelerates, takes a turn, then charges at a hero.These create pools of fire where they land of which damage heroes and defenses over them continuously. It stops in-place to shoot large homing fireballs at the heroes.It has three attacks which it uses in no particular order: Proton Charge Blast: Toggle to absorb nearby mana into your Assimilable Range Cannon.The Phoenix flies over the battlefield. Explodes upon destruction or detonation, hurting all nearby enemies. Holographic Decoy: Leave behind a false Series EV to attract and fool your foes. Tower Buff Beam: Enhances all towers along its beam and goes down only when an affected unit does. Shock Beam: A laser trip wire with a delayed detonation that both stuns and damages opponents. Reflection Beam: This tall field of light reflects projectiles and damages any unlucky enough to be in their path. Physical Beam: A simple but versatile blockade & capable of being adapted to any location. Proton Beam: An intense beam that constantly zaps all enemies foolish enough to walk along its path. Series EV may wish to be a real human being, but it’s her extreme robotic capabilities that make her such a devastating addition to any team of Defenders! Furthermore, EV can consume vast quantities of Mana power to unleash a destructive Proton Charge Blast, and also project a Holographic Decoy which will attract & confuse enemies before exploding in their faces. She also can store Guns and Magic Staffs in her memory bank, reproducing their capabilities with her “Assimilable Range Cannon”, and can switch between any two such weapons on the fly. Assembled long ago by a master mechanic within the depths of Sky City, the Series EV automaton has been powered back to life and is ready for action! By placing down an array of powerful Electronic Beams of any length, EV can decimate enemy forces across linear distances.
